Day 350: Prayer for the Lord’s move in the United States

Pray that the saints would see the importance of the United States in the Lord’s move and would pray for the Lord’s move in this country (Acts 17:26-27 and note 26²; 1:8).

Acts 17:26-27—And He made from one every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, determining beforehand their appointed seasons and the boundaries of their dwelling, that they might seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, even though He is not far from each one of us.

Acts 17:26², appointed—The migrations to America in their times and with their boundaries are strong proof of this word and the first part of the succeeding verse.

Acts 1:8—But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

MINISTRY PORTION:

Since World War II, the United States has been the heart of the populated world. Its climate is temperate. It lies between two great oceans, which are like the wings of an eagle.

Whatever the United States does, the entire world follows. This is true financially, industrially, scientifically, politically, militarily, religiously, scripturally, and spiritually. Even in language, it is American English, not British, which prevails.

Why has God ordained this? It is for His move on earth to carry out His recovery. The Roman Empire was for the gospel. Germany was for the Reformation. Britain was for the spreading of the gospel and of the truth. Now the United States has become the center for the recovery. From here it can spread to all the continents in a worldwide language. Wherever we are from, we must appreciate America. God will use America to spread His recovery so that the Lord may return. (CWWL, 1981, vol. 1, “The World Situation and God’s Move,” ch 1, p. 296)

Beginning on December 1, 1962, I and two other brothers prayed together every day for twenty-one days regarding the Lord’s move in the United States. We saw nothing visible, no positive outward signs. Everything was unseen. Instead of positive signs, some people challenged us as to whether we genuinely believed that we could work out something for the Lord in the United States. Some even went as far as to say that if I would stay in the Far East to carry out a work among the Chinese, something would be worked out there, but they did not believe that anything could be worked out in the United States. I did not respond to any of this kind of speaking, because I realized that they did not have the faith, the substantiating ability, that we had. Something had been infused into us that they did not have. During that period of criticism I said to one of the brothers with whom I prayed, “Wait for five to ten years, and you will see what the Lord will do.” I spoke this to him repeatedly. In the beginning I realized from his expression that he had some doubts. However, after a certain time he was infused with faith. In carrying out the Lord’s work, we must take care of an important principle: The co-workers in the United States may be burdened to care for the work in other parts of the earth; nevertheless, they should also fulfill their responsibility to labor on gaining the local people in this country. As the co-workers in the United States labor to care for many places throughout the earth, they should also ensure that the need to gain the local people in this country is not neglected.
