祷告使圣徒学习照着诗歌的目的和选诗的原则，在聚会中，特别是在擘饼聚会中选诗（太二六30，林前十四26，诗歌394首，副歌）。

太二六30—他们唱了诗，就出来往橄榄山去。

林前十四26—弟兄们，这却怎么样？每逢你们聚在一起的时候，各人或有诗歌，或有教训，或有启示，或有方言，或有翻出来的话，凡事都当为建造。
