Day 147: Prayer for the saints to see and to seek the filling of the Spirit in its two vital aspects—the essential aspect and the economical aspect

Pray that the saints would see that the work of the all-inclusive Spirit we have received is of two aspects—the essential aspect for life and the economical aspect for power—and would seek to experience the Spirit as both the Spirit of life to live Christ and the Spirit of power to carry out Christ’s commission (John 7:38-39; 14:17; 20:22; Acts 1:8 and note 8²; 4:31; 2:4²; Hymns, #278, ss. 1-4, 7).

John 7:38-39—He who believes into Me, as the Scripture said, out of his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water. But this He said concerning the Spirit, whom those who believed into Him were about to receive; for the Spirit was not yet, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.

John 14:17—Even the Spirit of reality, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not behold Him or know Him; but you know Him, because He abides with you and shall be in you.

John 20:22—And when He had said this, He breathed into them and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit.

Acts 1:8—But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Acts 4:31—And when they had so besought, the place in which they were gathered was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness.
